Abstract
Rising health awareness and the growing demand for sustainable food options have driven the development of innovative snack products. Unhealthy eating habits and the popularity of processed snacks continue to contribute to diet-related health problems among Filipinos. To address this concern, the Proponents developed a business that produces a pastry made from unripe papaya, an ingredient rich in fiber, vitamins, antioxidants, and digestive enzymes. This business, named CRACEF Pastry, aims to provide consumers with healthier, affordable, and locally inspired snacks while promoting the use of underutilized agricultural produce. The feasibility of CRACEF Pastry was assessed through five key areas: market, technical, organizational and management, socio-economic, and financial. The project supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being, SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG – 17 Partnerships for the Goals, which can be achieved by promoting sustainable sourcing, health-focused product development, and creating employment opportunities. The proponents plan to invest ₱140,765.00 for initial operations, which will be used to acquire equipment and allocate part of the funds to working capital. Financial projections indicate strong profitability; in Year 1, sales are estimated at ₱606,564.00 and a net income of ₱170,046.90. Further evaluation reveals a Net Present Value (NPV) of ₱897,912.16, an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 127.04%, a Profitability Index (PI) of 7.38, and a discounted payback period of 10 months and 15 days, indicating a rapid return on investment. Based on these findings, the proposed business is financially viable, operationally feasible, and highly promising. The project is therefore strongly recommended for implementation.
